Description
Basasa is the solo project of Alex Daniels, a Mexican accordionist and composer who has dedicated his career to studying and performing different musical traditions from around the world. The project's repertoire consists exclusively of original pieces by Alex Daniels that explore various traditions such as Balkan, Celtic, and Nordic music, klezmer, son jarocho, istmeño, jazz manouche, and reggae, among others. These different styles blend organically to generate an archetypally traditional music, yet from a fictional geographical and cultural origin: a country located somewhere between Scandinavia, the former Yugoslavia, and the Sotavento region of Veracruz.
